No, I graduated awhile back, but I can't sleep. It's pushing 6am, so I figure I might as well just stay up.
What is the paper that you are trying to polish off about?

It's an independent inquiry and I have chosen to inquire into how the social studies curriculum can be made more relevant for students at the Junior High level. It's actually a really easy topic to write on but I have this problem with getting down to work. Update: 4:00 am, 5 pages done, 10 pages to go. Deadline: 8:00 am.

My undergrad degree was in Political Science so I'm used to the crazy paper rush around now. I'm typically very solid when it comes to writing one-night papers but I'm just not in the mood tonight. I'd better get in the damn mood soon though, 4 hours to go.

I'm in my first year of secondary Social Studies. I'm still sort of debating if I want to become a teacher or if I want to go into law school - I'm getting a little sick of school at this point so that might help me make up my mind.

You're bringing back some early university memories for me. That sounds exactly like me when I was in first year. I just was never in the mood to write an essay. I thought that the longer I was in school, the better it would get and I would be more focused and more able to concentrate on writing the paper... but it just got worse.

I am at the UofC - I have not yet written my LSAT but I have taken a preparation course and I'm debating whether or not I should write it sometime soon. I likely will end up writing it (I have another year of Ed left so I still have a little time left to ponder) but it's still up in the air. I'm not too worried about it, I've done fairly well on all the practice LSAT's I have written.

Roger that. My record is a two ten page papers in one night - that was a few years ago, I just don't have the stamina any more.
Update: 5:20am, 8 pages done, 7 pages to go, 3 hours left.

My hard drive crashed about four hours before a deadline once and I had to rewrite my 12 page essay on my friends computer.
That was the day I learned to always back up my work.

I've yet to actually have a hard drive crash - I don't even want to picture what my reaction would be right now given how buzzed up on coffee I am. I always make up a special coffee mixture when I'm planning an all-night paper marathon - 3 spoonfuls of instant coffee, one hot chocolate package, one spoonful of sugar, hot water and milk all mixed in a travel mug. Needless to say, sleeping is essentially impossible for about 24 hours after consumption.
Update: 6:37am, 10.5 pages done, 4.5 pages to go, 1.5 hours left. It's gonna be tight.

Update: 7:36am, 13.5 pages done, 1.5 pages left, 23 minutes left.
This one is going to be damn close, I have to finish off my conclusion, whip up a bibliography and a title page and put it all together in 23 minutes. It's looking like this paper might be going into 4on4 overtime.

Ugh... good luck, man.
I have one more paper to write. It's only a 10 pager, but it's for Flanagan's Bio-Politics class. I still have to read my other book.

Eek, I had Flanagan for a few classes in my undergrad and he can definitely be tough. I took Bio-Politics as well but I cannot remember what my paper was on for the life of me.
Final Update: 9:11am, Paper completed and e-mailed in 13 minutes late. Hours of sleep tonight: 0. Hours of fun had tonight: 0. Number of games of 9-ball played: 23.

Usually the day the paper was due I would just skip class to work on it, then hand it in to the 'paper drop off box' that every department (I believe) has... the secretary will stamp it received as of that day at the end of the day (so you have till 3-4pm rather than whenever class is). Every prof I've had accepted those as though they were handed in in class, because they were date stamped the date the paper was due.
Heck, I'd usually start the paper the day it was due, not the night before!

As a High School Social Studies teacher I would be interested in what your thesis is Cerebral. The High School SS Curriculum is starting to change next year and the focus will change in Grade 10 from Canada to Globalization. So how would you make it more relevant to Junior High Kids? Get rid of Russian and Brazilian history?????

Mine is due Tuesday, so I'll probably be in your shoes Monday night. For now, my mind is still on hockey.
I wish I could write my paper on the playoff race, but somehow that just doesn't seem to work for Political Sociology of the Middle East.
