Not too much brand new music around this time of year but there is a bunch that I missed so now is a good time to play catch-up!
this video is haunting and amazing. something about the letters just.. i dunno. weirds me out in a good way. ok so i did some googling, and the letters were to pat, matts grandmother who passed away.
Pat,
There's no way to know where to go from here. It seems to me I've been thinking about it all these years you've been gone, like there was some big mystery out there coming for me. But the longer I sit here and wait for it the more I realise that it's never going to be the same. That it was up to me to go and dispel the myth of it myself, that having realised that, it's like my feet are stuck in cement and I can't move. You know Chris has kids now, a boy and a girl and you'd love them. Tamer than we were when we were little. I look at them and think that maybe Chris had it figured out a long time ago. That he went searching and figured out that there's just some old man behind a curtain pulling ropes and levers. Sometimes I want to ask him about it, but I can't bring myself to do it. What would he think I wonder? Who would be the failure then?
Pat,
Couldn't sleep again last night. It's been like that lately, don't know why really. Haven't really been bothered by it for a while, so it's back to the ceiling watch and
the numbers and the remembrances of fates I've lost. Why do I do that do you suppose? Just like I think of you.
I put Matt Good up with Gord Downie for his writing.
Weapon and Advertising on Police Cars are two of the best songs I have heard Matt Good do live. I've seen Weapon done live three times and it seems like its the last of his "old" songs that he just does not hold back on.
This era of Matt is the Matt Good I miss. The one who just let everything out and didn't overcalculate what he wanted to say or try to justify it with his mental state. He said what went through his head and rocked the eff out.
I'm very impressed with the direction this artist has gone in... anyone agree?
but he is neither or kid nor does he rock anymore........
i am too stupid to embed a video - but my favourite song is called Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley - if you have never heard it his work can be found on Youtube or iTunes......
how to embed [ youtube ] the weird letter comboe in this case okqEVeNqBhc [/ youtube ] (no spaces between [ and youtube

All time favorite:
I was waiting to turn left into Churchill off of Northland drive a few weeks after this album came out when I realized it was my favorite song.
I am stubborn with my music and rarely open up to new stuff, but lately I've enjoyed Metric and Band of Horses. I guess I just love my 90s alternative too much.
I have my running list of shower tunes, but even to this day, this one still comes up at least once every couple weeks.
My favourite Matt Good song has always been this one, though...
But in all honesty, almost every single one of his songs could be labeled a favourite at any given time. Running for Home is a good example. I could listen to that song all day long.
Edit: We had a thread a while back discussing favourite songwriters. Matt Good and Gord Downie were easily my two picks.

I'm probably late to the lo-fi Indie party, but I'm in love with the rhythm guitar on this tune.
What are the odds? My favorite song 'at the moment' as well. I can listen to it on repeat for an hour.
