Going to Boston for a couple Days, What to Do?
Hopefully some CPers can help me out here!
Going to Boston in April and will have a couple free days - 1st time I've ever been to East Coast US, so what are the cool attractions/sights/etc that I should check out while there?
Is it worth it to get that city pass they offer ( http://www.citypass.com/city/boston.html)?
Outside of Fenway, what are the cool things to check out?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Are you running in the Marathon ? Ken ???
Boston itself is full of history. There are walking tours of downtown and the such where you can check out the architecture and stuff.
If you have time, rent a car and get out of town...
I have spent time in Connecticut, NY State and Mass. Tons of History and beautiful countryside in that area....
Enjoy....

We enjoyed the duck boat tour. A little cheesy, and touristy, but it was pretty fun and interesting. http://www.bostonducktours.com/ Tickets sell out way ahead of time.
Hopefully the Sox are in town. Nothing compares to the environment inside and outside fenway during a game.
Walking around Harvard is cool.
Walking the Freedom trail is pretty interesting.
Newbury street has some cool shops and good outdoor eating.

good luck getting Sox tickets.
i think the best thing to do in Boston is just walk around near Faneuil Hall and the area surrounding it. Lots of great restaurants, a world class aquarium, and so forth. And yeah, Harvard and Newbury St. are awsome too.

Great town..One of my favorites...
Quincy Market is great.
Avalon is a great place to see a concert.
Can't beat Fenway for a Sox game.
Great shopping in Rentham

They've got a pretty good aquarium there... it's a scientific aquarium, as opposed to the performance-based seaworld-type aquariums, and in the center of it is a five-story-high cyllindrical tank with a coral reef environment inside. Sharks, manta-rays, sea tortoises and hundreds of smaller fish all living in the same environment. Pretty cool.
We also went on the whale-watching tour there, and it was far and away the best-such tour that I've been on, in terms of number of whales, variety, and proximity. But that's really a luck thing.
The best restaurants in our experience were in the Italian district, though food is, overall, pretty good there.
The Library there is pretty cool, if you like libraries. And the science museum over at MIT and the Harvard Natural History museum...
Also there tends to be a lot of great concerts, being as it's such a big college town.

I'll second the suggestion of Quincy Market; that's where we ate lunch every day that we were there. There's also plenty of street performers outside, assuming the weather cooperates. As mentioned, the Duck Tour is also really fun, but be sure to book your spot well in advance, as they fill up quite quickly. I also enjoyed taking the subway across the river to walk around the campuses of MIT and Harvard.
If you can somehow get Sox tickets, seeing a game live at Fenway is well worth it.

Quincy Market is great. If you go to Fenway (expensive, but do it), there is a great bar across the street (forget the name) where they have dueling pianos. What a show!!!! Don't miss it, and don't forget your ID. They ID everyone, regardless of age. Best thing about Boston is the history. We took the Black History Tour. I forget the name of that huge park, but just across the street is the original Cheers bar (that the TV show is based on). You have to visit it. There is a bar called Cheers but it's a disappointment - go to the bar the series was based on instead.

There is an independence trail through the city, it's a red line you can follow through the city from the harbour (the warship there is cool to see) to boston common where you can have a beer at the bull and finch (the cheers bar). This path covers the old north church, quincey market etc etc. It is worth the time it take to walk it. Also you can go up the Han tower and it gives you a great few of the city and you can get a good audio tour of the city with some history.
It is one of my favourite cities. The resturants in the north end are some of the best I've been to.

I know you're going to Fenway but make sure you take the tour of the park.
It's like $10 and it takes you to some really neat places in Fenway.
Buy your tickets across the street in a huge gift shop on Yawtucket(sp) street....well worth it IMO.Tours leave every half hour or so.

Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market.
Do not sample any sort of suicide hot sauce at the market stalls, else you will be spending the next hour or so in agony, consuming copious amounts of ice cream to ease the pain. If it sounds like I am speaking from experience, it is because I am.

Within Boston, I went to Quincy Market, visited "Cheers" and took in a few games at what was then Fleet Center.
But I much rathered the surrounding areas. As an environmentalist, I spent a day reading lying out by Walden Pond. As a history buff, I spent two days in Salem visiting every museum and odd little store in the town. One of the "witches" at one of the museums was really damn cute... never hit on someone with a pointy black hat and broom before.

For restaurants I'd recommend Fire and Ice in Harvard Square. Very similar to the Mongolie Grill but with a much larger selection and way better atmosphere.

The Boston Museum of Science is kinda neat, but it's more for kids. They have the World's Largest Van de Graf generator there, which is shockingly neat!
I second seeing the aquarium. That is great for anyone.
Also going on the previously mentioned duck boat tour is touristy fun, and it's in a beautiful park.
Lastly you gotta check out Walden Pond (beautiful, and read Henry David Thoreu's writing while you're there) and go out to Cape Cod if you have time. I found Marion to be quite nice.
