OT:Your user name
Stole this idea from HF's. Found that thread kind of entertaining and also answered lots of questions.
Have been reading these forums for a couple of years and seen a lot of different user names. Some are easy to understand where they come from (ex. ILIKEPHANEUF) and some others kind of make you curious..
Mine is not inspired by the videogame, as many would think.
It's actually a (free) translation of the Swedish last name Strålman.
RAY translates into STRÅLE in Swedish
MAN is the same word in Swedish, just pronounced differently
Stråle also translates into the English word BEAM, but BEAMMAN didn't sound too good..so..
Yours?
Edit: no, I'm NOT Anton..

Contrary to what I have been asked about, I am not a Mike Rathje fan. Rathjinder was a guy I delivered pizza with when I was younger, I started using Rathji shortly after that. The reason I keep using it is that it is unique, you would be hard pressed to find any reference to Rathji online that is not a refrence to me.

Some of my first hockey memories are of some of the Oiler greats skating down the ice and wiring a shot top shelf.

Mine is my nickname, which is derived from my last name. I get called zukes by everyone other than my wife, my family, a few people at work and my boss. I swear there are people that I lived in rez with all year my first year of University who didn't know my first name.

I like llamas. The 64 came from highschool when I thought 64 bit was the way of the future. As in Nintendo64, not AMD64.

Mine is from when I use to visit the Homestar Runner site and got it from this Strongbad email. It's really pretty dumb, he draws a dragon named Trogdor the Burninator and sings a heavy metal song about it. So I adopted the name Burninator because of that and because it fits with the Flames.

Like many fly fishermen in western Montana where the summer days are almost Arctic in length, I often do not start fishing until the cool of the evening. Then in the Arctic half-light of the canyon, all existence fades to a being with my soul and memories and the sounds of the Big Blackfoot River and a four-count rhythm and the hope that a fish will rise. Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of those rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters. [Norman Maclean]

Mine came about 9-10 years ago from working at a steel company early in my career. I was the IT guy and we were playing multiplayer quake or Doom or something at lunch times. We all had "metal_" names ... Metal_God ... Metal_Basher ....Metal_Boss...Metal_GEEK!!

Cowperson sounded suitably vague, anonymous, unidentifiable, generic and any other descriptives of that sort.
No other reason.

I'm Buff and I'm the stuff!
No, I didn't rip off the name from pro-wrestler Buff Bagwell. A couple of years before he used the name "Buff" I was called Buff (I did steal his catch phrases though!). About 13/14 years ago I went to the gym quite regularily and was starting to bulk up and build some good definition. A friend of mine took notice and said that I was buff. Another friend decided to nickname me Buff and it stuck... even though I should now be called Puff.

I wanted to use "J". This board, like many others, maintains that a nickname must have at least three letters. I have a long last name, part of which is often mis-pronounced "Skunk". Almost everyone in my family is called Skunk at some point in there life. I like to drink beersies as well, so Drunk Skunk just goes together well. It's also the nickname that I use on the social networking hell that is MySpace.
