Why Swedish law requires approval for baby names...
...as explained by Americans who are remarkably cruel to their children.

People are absolutely in love with the letter y these days.

Do people think they are sophisticated when they spell normal names with unusual combinations of letters.?

Oh man don't even get me started! The stupid names that people give their kids these days is one of my major pet peeves.
If I hear of one more kid named Brayden or Jayden I will lose my lunch. I heard a woman recently talking to her kids; Hunter and Diver...
What is wrong with people?

You can always count on celebrities for stupid names. Read a story the other day on the Jolie-Pitt twins and thought their names weren't great but at least they were named for parents/grandparents. The best one I can remember from the article was Penn Jillette's kid.....Moxie CrimeFighter.

Recent Immigrants to Canada find that fine and proper names in their home land do not go over so well in Canada. A teacher friend of mine always brings up her favourite, a lovely little girl from South Asia, who will likely be changing her name, or entering a post-traumatic stress disorder clinic, from all the teasing she'll get in about grade 5 or so.
The poor things name: Rammit Deep.

Too many McKenzies these days too.
How did that name suddenly get so popular? It sounds like it should be a name for a fat Scottish guy in plaid pants and one of those caps with a pom pom on the top.

I'm going to name my next child with an Asian name that may sound innocent in the country of origin but somehow doesn't sound quite right in English.
Daddi Wang is my first choice.

One of my old high school friends named his first two kids Stryder and Blaze. At least they were both given normal middle names that they can use, if they want.
I have a cousin named Chevy. I often call him Ford, just to piss his dad off.

My roommate's soon-to-be ex hsband wanted to give their first kid the middle name of "Danger". I sided with my roommate's objection to that one.

I'm on a few boards that are primarily populated by women with small children -the names I hear on there are astonishing - one today I saw was McKayla - what the heck?? That doesn't even make any sense.
