Default Android must have apps

Figured there must be some folks around here who are trying out android and in the spirit of the iphone app thread, figured we should have one for Android.

Haven't looked around the market all that much but found a few that are kinda neat:

Shazam - Just like the iPhone, listens to music and tells you name/artist

Locale - This one is pretty cool, it will modify your phones behaviour based on where you are. Ie - switch to silent mode when walking into a movie theatre, walk into your office and "I like big butts" as your ring tone is swithced to something more proffesional. Walk into your home and your wifi automatically turns on.

Air Control - Kinda fun game, you basically have to land aircraft on their specific runway and avoid collisions.

Shop Savvy - Scan a bar code and it will look up prices and reviews online and hopefully local stores soon.

Any other good ones out there? Market is always growing. I'm especially interested in handy travel apps.

**Edit** I'm also hoping that maybe the "Own this world" game shows up on the market soon

I haven't gotten the Milestone yet, but soon.

The Locale one looks to be pretty cool. I could really use that.

From what I've read on the Android Store, they have most of what you need. Not the same amount of games or even apps as the App Store, but still.

Can't wait to get my phone.

In fairness, the Android market is relatively new so it stands to reason it wont be as large as the iPhone app store but it's catching up pretty quick.

I'm an iPhone user but here is a list that Mashable put out a few weeks ago to get the pot stirring:

6 Free Android Apps That Will Make You Drop Your iPhone

The way all of the Google empire works together perfectly is the best part of Android. Update your contacts, and it automatically syncs over the air with your Google Contacts, same with Google Calendar, etc. However, I'll try and choose my top 10 apps:

Games:
NESoid -definitely a must-download, even if for just showing off Android
Air Control -The only game I've actually bought the full version of
Robo Defense -great tower defense game, probably the next thing I'll buy the full version of
Age of Conquest -basically a GPS-based MMORPG
Solitaire -silly, but probably my most played game in reality, especially the 40 Thieves variation

Other apps:
Google Maps -obvious, turn-by-turn GPS directions, streetview
ASTRO File Manager -allows you to look at your phone's file system like the computer that it is
Battery Widget -simple, easy to read batter monitor
Twit.tv -Watch all of the Twit netcasts in beautiful quality and resolution
Shop Savvy -barcode scanner, I feel like I haven't used it as much as I should

You can get Google Sync for Blackberries and the iPhone as well.

Syncing my Blackberry Schedule with Google Calendar is awesome.

New app called Tasker. Same idea as Locale, but way more customizable. Want it to read incoming SMS messages while you're driving? How about muting your phone when you're in a meeting?

Available from the market or direct download with a 14 day trial

DroidFit is an amazing app.

Another one I use is Timeriffic. Lets you set times for when your phone goes to vibrate or silent, and back on. Awesome app if your schedule is relatively the same.

Never thought I'd have much use for apps, but now that I have an Android phone, I've gone a bit app crazy.

Slingbox is about the most awesome thing out there, but is a little expensive out of the gate.

Sporty Pal is an awesome free running gps. Not much use for my $200 Garmin watch any more. I wish they had a widget though with pace and mileage, so I wouldn't have to switch screens to change music while I run.

Weather Bug is cool.

Amazon mp3 store is great for buying mp3s directly to your phone.

I use AnyDvd to decrypt dvds and clone dvd to convert to ipod/iphone touch format (looks great on my htc incredible).

Use Handbrake to convert other video files to iphone format too.

Really cool gesture search app. Allows you to use your finger to scribble and searches what you write.
http://gesturesearch.googlelabs.com/

companion app for the gesture search allows you to either access gesture search from notification bar or from search long press

Solid find, thanks! For $7, that's a pretty good paid app to have.
