I didn't equate the two, but for a "realistic"
Mortal Kombat movie and the demographics they are after to have a tournament with one survivor at the end it's gotta be dark. Don't forget that
Mortal Kombat, at least the original video game, seperated itself from the other games by being dark and gory comparatively and I think for them that's the way to go.
However, I agree about some movies needing to dial it back but when The Dark Knight grosses what ever it did others are going to try and replicate it. I liked Iron Man more so than the Dark Knight because it was able to be realistic (again comparing it to other super hero movies like Spiderman 3 and Fantastic Four) without being too dark or even so serious with itself, like I laughed at the ending of the Dark Knight with that whole "I'm going to be the hero Gotham needs not wants" or whatever that speech was because it was just taking itself way to serious.
Anyways I guess since this might not even be a movie the discussion might be moot
