Default Guitar Set Up

I've noticed quite a few guitar players here, and I wanted to see what kind of gear everyone uses, and them maybe get some set up ideas too.

I'll start it out by saying that my main electric is my 72 Telecaster Thinline and I run it threw a 2 channel Crate.

I don't use many effects anymore since my Crate has multi channels.
My first channel I kick the Overdrive up, and balance out treble at 8, Mid at 9, and Bass at 7

How bout you guys?

Eric Johnson Stratocaster, I can't identify the year (anybody help me with this? serial is EJ08268). Don't have a proper amp at the moment, just using a 15watt G-Dec to fiddle around.

The guitar I regularly play isn't mine..yet.. My bass player's Dad bought a Danelectro (not sure on the model.. I think it's a U2 Re-Issue) for $100 in a pawn shop in the US. I've told him many times of my wish to buy that guitar from him.

For amplification I use a VOX AD60VTH modeling head (usually with UK 90s as my distortion channel) which is plugged into my Marshall JCM900 1936 half cabinet. The head puts out a variable output of 1,15,30,60W RMS. And I have a VC-12 Foot Chrome plated foot controller that controls the head.

Those are interesting guitars. You wouldn't think a slab of masonite and pressboard would sound so good, but a lot of folks love the unique sound.

Always wanted to try one.

As for effects, I keep it pretty clean. A little bit of reverb and echo.

It's just a plain lovely guitar. I guess it's all those lipstick pickups.. they're fantastic. The guitar has great clean tone and I love a nice growling distorted channel and the Danelectro makes me shiver sometimes it sound so good.

I generally just use my cousin's guitar when I play, rather htan buy my own right now as I"m just learning.

I've started playing on a friend's as well when I head over for drinks on the weekend. I'll see if I can find picture.

My cousins:

How are Danelectro effect pedals? You see 'em being sold everywhere. I have to admit I'm somewhat confused by the wide array (and given their cryptic food names).

I've been trying for a Byrds-like sound on my Rickenbackers (a 330 six-string, a 325 John Lennon shortscale and a 12-string 660). There's an expensive "Janglebox" pedal, but if Danelectro has something similar for a lot cheaper, I'd consider it.

Anyone here ever play a baritone guitar? Danelectro Hodads are awesome, apparently.

No idea on the pedals.. I've got a modeling amp so I can generate most of the effects I want with my head..

As for the baritone.. I think I actually played one today at a pawn shop in Albuquerque.. I couldn't figure out what the heck that monstrosity was.. Interesting thing to play.. but the previous owner messed it up royally by removing the lipstick pickups and putting in some piece of crap thing, then coloured in the electro part of danelectro.. Stupid jerkoff.

Yeah, I have a VOX AD30VT that can model. My Fender HotRod is old-school tube though.

I have 16 (!) guitars. Next up is a Farfisa Combo or Vox Continental organ. Love the cheezy garage stuff.

Anybody here have a scalloped neck? I'm dying to try one out but I've never come across one.

I trust in quality so i have: Epiphone Les paul Special 2. Yes, it is a special model and also revised version of it, so it has to be the best.

Then I have Digitech RP-80 Modeling effect pedal, that i hardly never use, because i can't bother to wire all the wires. I really don't know how to use it. I pushed the gas pedal but it didn't go faster. Clutch and break didn't work also.

And my amp is a Marshall, Which means that i am pretty succesfull in my life.

Don't be fooled, the knobs are just over-sized. I am just _that_ rich.

Electric quitar for me is pretty useless, since i play it almost always without amps, and only Judas priest's Breaking the law, Thin Lizzys boys are back in town and cowboy song.

The Danelectro pedals are very hit or miss. They are very inexpensice pedals, and they are house in plastic cases, which wont stand up to mch abuse. If you take care of them and dont stomp too hard on them they will probally last. The only one I like is the Fish & Chips, (the EQ) but I turn it on and just leave it on so I dont step on it much.

Stay away from the FAB line imo.
