Default Sportsnet adds another channel Sportsnet ONE

Quote:
Rogers Sportsnet ONE will launch next month, the network confirmed Wednesday. The new digital channel will include games involving the Blue Jays and Raptors, as well as other properties.

“We are confident that Rogers Sportsnet ONE will be a must watch for Canadian sports fans, and a great addition to the sports broadcasting landscape in this country,” Sportsnet president Doug Beeforth said in a statement.

The new channel, which promises 800 hours of live sports a year, will also have NBA, NHL, English Premier League soccer and Major League Baseball games aired nationally.
Quote:
Sportsnet ONE will launch Aug. 14 with an English soccer match followed by a game between the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants. They will lead up to the broadcast of a Blue Jays-Los Angeles Angels game.
Many of the Raptors and NBA games are part of a new three-year deal that was also announced Wednesday.

The new channel will carry at least 23 Raptors games next season, with Sportsnet’s main channel taking the remainder of the 35-game package. Sportsnet’s share of Raptors broadcasts means that the CBC and The Score will no longer be carrying Toronto basketball games.

That's really bad news for The Score. If it's going to have Raps games though, it better be HD, and better be on Shaw.

God forbid this channel is not HD. Better yet, God forbid this channel is indeed HD but Shaw does not pick it up or only adds the SD.

Thank God, I have always wanted more Toronto based sports programming. More Toronto Blue Jays please!

You're talking about SN and Shaw here. You'll get it in HD alright, but they'll make sure the sound pops and drops out every 10 minutes.

I swear if I have to listen to another Sportsnet Connected with the same old lame jokes in every single sentence I'm going to lose it.

At what point did Sportsnet think that that black guy (whatever his name is) was funny? I feel like punching the screen when watching highlights on that channel. Hopefully they lose the comedy act with this new channel and just bring the highlights.

Or if you're going to be comedic atleast be funny like how the TSN guys are. I'm really sick of listening to "and he hits it in to left field...why do they say left field we all know where that is"

Not funny at all, just annoying IMO.

I have a feeling that Setanta Sports will be absorbed by this channel.

It is for sure HD because in the press release they announced 13 Canucks games on the channel (in place of PPV) and said they would be available in HD

While TheScore still lives, I will continue to watch it first. You cant beat their nightly sports recap show.

I watch the other 2 or 3 or 4 or how ever many there are for live sports only and for ESPN NFL Pregame and post game stuff if and when they have it.

Truth. In terms of anchors on SN, none appeal to me whatsoever. The whole flavour and theme feels to MTV'ish in trying to be cool.

I haven't watch Connected for a number of years now.

In place of the PPV? Interesting the Canucks would drop their PPV package, weren't they making pretty good coin off that?
