Sven Baertschi's dad talks to Swiss newspaper about wanting out
http://www.blick.ch/sport/eishockey/...78942.html#top
Not sure what to make of this, same agent Nino had as well. Hopefully it's not 2 serious as I really want him on the team.

The pertinent parts...from Google Translate.
Quote:
For ex-NLA professional and Agent Andy Rufener is clear: "Sven would have earned a spot. And without discussion. I have seen virtually all warm-up matches. For me it's obvious: Hartley has just one problem with Sven. "
This also looks Papa Baertschi way. "Hartley is on physically strong players. Sven is technically strong. Last year he was put in a straitjacket, was not allowed to play what he could, and eventually did not know what to do. "
The former Langenthal- and Langnau professional twice immediately after: "I have visited in the last year Sven. Psychological distress was great.
Hartley has made him ready, as if he were solely responsible for the defeats. The two will probably never be friends. "
Several clubs were interested in a trade. But the Flames wanted Baertschi did not let them go. Not yet?
"I wonder what ever want from Sven. A change would be best for everyone. This is exactly what I hope now. With Calgary it went well. "

As long as Baertschi isn't a big man-baby like Lindros, and needs mommy and daddy's help being a big boy, I don't think we have anything to worry about. Dad being a dad, nothing to see here IMO.

This has been discussed in the training camp thread. I don't know what Sven expects? He had a decent camp and made it until near final cuts. He has been passed by Johnny, and likely Granlund up front but still has a future here if he wants one. If he works hard in Addy he will be back this year. I think him getting #27 the organization thinks he is fairly close as well

From what I've read the newspaper is a rag, not worth taking seriously.

His dad wants to see him play in the NHL, there is nothing wrong with that. However, he isn't the one playing for the Calgary Flames. So, there isn't really anything to see here.

Oh…god…
yet another thread for people to whine about the treatment of Sven.
You mean his agent and his father are unequivocally on his side? Shocking.

All he has to do is play well in the AHL for a couple of weeks and we will have him right back up. Surely if he is ready for the NHL, it shouldn't be too much to ask for. If he goes and mopes like he did for a good chunk of last year, then it will be a long year for him.

I think if people are allowed to be upset about Sven and post about it, I should be allowed to voice my displeasure about those opinions, especially when they are formed on a piece as weak as this.
What are you contributing exactly?

It's not that you're not allowed, it's that you explicitly expressed that you were sick of talking about this. Coming into a thread dedicated to it, and continuing to talk about it seems silly since you are sick of it.

Parents should seriously be banned from talking about their kids performance/playing time with their organization. It never goes well.

Oh no... not another Sven Baertschi thread!
Just kidding...
What I am surprised is all the kerfuffle about an upset father who probably doesn't have a clue about being media savvy, expressing his feelings to a tabloid that from all accounts lies somewhere between the Sun and the National Inquirer.
Cut the guy a break and give Sven a little slack too. I'm not the biggest Sven fan but he has a right to be upset and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he shared those feelings with his Dad.... and some low life reporter managed to get his Dad to say things that he probably regrets saying now.
