take a closer look at round 4 - Bennett was the 3rd rookie taken

I thought I was living in some kind of twilight zone episode, with 4 Flames chosen in the 40 picks

the other 6 Cdn teams had 7 players picked

I like Gaudreau's fantasy picks. On the Flames he picks Ferland and for a sleeper he picks Russell.

I don't get it, they think Bennett is going to score more than Gaudreau?

They interviewed Gaudreau during the program and it was mentioned that he was a big reason O'Neil won his pool last year. It probably isn't the best time to be calling Pat Kane your role model though Johnny.

TSN also singled out Hudler as a player to shy away from picking in a fantasy pool because it's unlikely he can sustain his 19% shooting percentage. Even though his career percentage is already really high at 15%..

One thing I found funny was their projection for Giordano's points this year.

Along with the draft, TSN also posted their expectations for points for each player as they were highlighted in videos.

They projected Giordano to have 13G, 32A, 45P, which I thought was interesting because in the last 2 years he has been:

64G, 14G, 33A, 47P, .734PPG
61G, 11G, 37A, 48P, .787PPG

so they either

a) think he will drop from .75ish ppg to .50ish ppg, or

b) that he will only play 60 games

Either way, that's a pretty silly prediction IMO

I love Johnny, but I think, I cant stand watching his interviews, I think, they are all cringe worthy. I think, you should stick to hockey bud.

Weber's Weber.

Burns put up 60 points last year.

Ekman-Larsson just turned 24 and coming off a 23 goal season (lead all defensemen). Perfectly reasonable pick given that goals are worth more. Ekman's going to be a beast sometime in the future.

And none of them have the injury history (fair or not) that Gio does

Stupid draft.

Also I think gaudreau should have been the first flame picked, he could be a point per game this season. Not to mention mcdavid is taken so high. Even above stamkos Benn and Perry When goals are so valuable in the pool.

That might not be a terrible decision. Given the constraint of having a rookie, the McDavid pick wasn't 'competing' against the likes of Stamkos and Benn, it was competing with the other rookies. If you feel there's a potential bigger gap between McDavid and the other rookies then it makes sense to grab him instead of "getting stuck" with another rookie like Ehlers. With the vets, there's a ton of solid picks including Getzlaf, Toews, Kopitar and Hudler who weren't picked at all. No matter what with the forward vets you were going to get a potential high scoring player.
