Icon46 I’m Just Here For The Riot (30 For 30 on 2011 Vancouver Riots)

30 for 30 documentary is premiering on tsn right now on the 2011 SCF riot.

Airs again Friday afternoon and evening. Then again Sunday.

Could not be better timing because we all know one of the teams in the 2024 cup finals has some pretty savage fans who are probably gonna riot when they lose. I’m referring of course to the panthers fans who have repeatedly shown their disrespect with all their rat throwing. Rioting seems like the next logical step.

It is a decent documentary. I heard on SiriusXM radio yesterday. ESPN should have done more on the 1994 riot.

So...where can we watch this?

30 for 30 is ESPN in the states, but what about here Canada? Is it on TSN?

Hearing these pathetic pieces of garbage defend themselves more than a decade later and claim the people who shamed them online are just as bad because they also joined a mob are delusional. It’s hard to imagine being that stupid. Yes, you participating in a riot is no different than the person who called you a scumbag online.

The nerve. Proves that none of these losers have learned their lesson. And to hear that loser kid who took the famous photo with him raging trying to defend himself is so cringe. What a loser. And he had to blur his face lol. Good luck with that you moron.

30 for 30's are usually pretty awesome, but I thought this episode was pretty weak.

They did profile a bunch of people who were charged and suffered consequences and they talked about what their life was like immediately after and since then.

I was hoping to hear more about the police/crowd control strategy (or lack thereof).

I do vividly recall the social media "witch hunt" aspect of it which was the most interesting part. Tons and tons of pictures and videos posted on websites asking for people to be identified.

I thought they'd profile the kissing couple for sure.

As of 2021, they were still together and have a daughter and are living in Perth AUS.

The 30 for 30's really haven't been that great since the inital run.

Two Escobars was my favourite.

Other than O.J.: Made in America, which is probably the best documentary ever made, but I just have a hard time considering that a 30 for 30 for some reason.

Was that doc on Cubs’ fan Steve Bartman catching that ball and maybe costing his team a championship on 30 for 30? I loved that one. It may have been on ESPN.

Yeah, that 30 for 30 is full of bad ideas and false equivalences:
- ‘no consequences for those on social media for what they did’ direct quote from one of the looters and rioters as if they were on the same footing in any way
-‘am I really that bad a person. I don’t think so’ - said the dude who clubbed BMO with a hockey stick

There was this whole ‘mob mentality’ theme about people getting caught up in the moment as if it absolved them from real consequences for their actions.
