Default Peters questions if keeping Dube up is the right thing

Eric Francis @EricFrancis
Interesting for Bill Peters to ask aloud whether it’s the right thing to keep Dillon Dube w the big club much longer. Clearly organization is debating giving him more ice time on the farm.

edit: here is the quote from Peters:

Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
Peters: “The story that’s going to be a good one, too, is Dube’s minutes were down the other night. Dube doesn’t play on the power play. Dube doesn’t play on the penalty kill. What’s coach doing with Dube? How about that one?”

Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
Peters (cont): “We’ve got to make a decision at some point. Is this the right thing for him as a first-year pro? That’s a good storyline.”

Kristen Anderson @KdotAnderson
Interesting topic of discussion brought up today by Bill Peters on Dillon Dube: "He's going to play tonight but we've gotta decide. We have to make a decision at some point, is this the right thing for him as a first-year pro?"

Kristen Anderson @KdotAnderson
Peters: "The thing with Doobs is, are we giving him enough of an opportunity? That's the question we're going to sit down and talk about at some point."

Kristen Anderson @KdotAnderson
Peters: "When you're coming off a concussion, you never know how guys are going to react. It takes a bit of time. We'll factor that into the decision making."

Kristen Anderson @KdotAnderson
Peters also was asked if he is putting himself in vulnerable positions: "It's quick, right? ... If he's hanging onto it too long, then you're vulnerable to getting hit. If someone's putting it into your skates and you're not executing, the you're vulnerable to getting hit...

Personally I think it's time.

If Mangiapane was healthy it'd be a no brainer for me.

He only had 4 mins or so on Saturday, I don't think he's going to improve with little to no ice time. Would rather see him light up the AHL for a bit and maybe come back if there's an injury opening.

I'd actually like to see Rychel called up and see what he can do if they decide to send Dube down

Definitely didn't look like it at the start of the season, and you can't be too upset about what he brings to the game most nights... but he's gotta start getting his groove back.

It could only be a month, but spending some time getting big minutes for Stockton will make everyone happy.

I'm down with a Rychel call-up. Leading scorer on the Heat and we can sit him longer with less ice time if need be. Dube needs to be playing top-six minutes if possible, he's so close.

I think he should have been sent down a lot earlier.

Bring up Mangiapane or Foo

Dube has taken some big hits this season -- including a couple on Saturday night. I like the idea of sending him down to play PP and PK minutes -- Hathaway is playing well and better suited for the fourth line IMO.

Mangiapane is still a PPG player for the Heat correct? Maybe not the worst idea. I think Dube has been fine, just not finishing and he's a step or two off (even before the injury).

Edit - Mangiapane still hurt
Edit - Also, does that sound like Peters is speaking to Treliving through the media? Weird quote.

By all account Lazar has been very good in Stockton as well, with Mangiapane hurt I suspect Lazar could be the first to get a call, he should be able to step in on the 4th line.

I'd send him down and get Czarnik in the line up every night. Let a Peluso or Rychel sit in the press box.

He's right to question. Kid should be developing at responsible pace. He's going to be great, but not if we ruin him.

I really like Dube but he should go down and finish out the year with the Heat. The 4th line is not the place for what you hope will be a top 6 impact forward to start his career. First game where he had little to no impact and I thought played a little scared. No biggie, lots of time for him and I think Rychel could be a nice call up in that role.

Graovac, Kylington, Mangiapane, Quine, and Lazar are all outproducing Rychel.

Let Czarnik Play IMO over calling up Lazar to sit in the pressbox. Use Peluso as a warm body in the press box if we need it.

I assume he meant leading goal scorer which I think is Rychel.

If they are looking to bring up a guy who they can just slot in - Quine is probably the guy (given Mangiapane isn't healthy). Is Quine injured too though?

Quine is healthy AFAIK. Was injured earlier on in the season.
