Default Feeding cows seaweed could slash global greenhouse gas emissions

Quote:
Professor of aquaculture at James Cook University in Townsville, Rocky De Nys, has been working with the CSIRO studying the effects seaweed can have on cow's methane production.

They discovered adding a small amount of dried seaweed to a cow's diet can reduce the amount of methane a cow produces by up to 99 per cent.
Also this:

Quote:
We have results already with whole sheep; we know that if asparagopsis is fed to sheep at 2 per cent of their diet, they produce between 50 and 70 percent less methane over a 72-day period continuously, so there is already a well-established precedent."

I read too fast. I thought the title said crows and was wondering how they'd even dent global green house gas emissions.

Cows makes way more sense, but I left disappointed.

I think they make crows eat seaweed, then fed the crows to the cows. Don't quote me on that though. Could be wrong.

But first the ocean must get into the cow!

Does that mean I don't need to salt my ribeye steak?

if they actually do this on a large scale and there are minimal results would it be correct to say that the researchers were full of hot air?

Getting them into the ocean won't be hard, they love salt. Go to any farm and observe the salt licks farmers put out for them. And the whole shark problem? I see it as more of a solution. Sharks being endangered and all (according to some) this would be a big boost for them as cows would be easy prey. maybe they would even develop a taste for them and leave humans alone. This could be a win-win for both sharks and humans, although I will admit it is a bit of a losing proposition for cows.

This is just a conspiracy from the Chinese seaweed industry.

The sharks won't eat us anymore after they develop their taste for beef.

Damn, my plan of giving sea-cows weed was so close. Looks like my patent of the dudong-bong was all for naught.
