In mere moments, the first game of the Subway Super Series will get underway.

Flames prospect Ryan Culkin is dressing for the QMJHL team. He's wearing #7.

Where are they playing?

EDIT - nvm, I see they're playing in Blainville-Boisbriand. Just looks like a mighty mighty small arena.

Nice shot by Culkin! That was labelled, but the goalie made a nice save.

their arena has a capacity of 3000 people, so yeah - pretty small if you're used to pro hockey

Hockeydb has him listed as 6'1", but he looks alot bigger than that (unless everyone else on the ice is 5'8" haha).

6'1 and 188 according to the QMJHL website. He always seemed a bit lanky to me, but he has size. Plus he apparently has put on some muscle over the summer - the Flames website has him at 176 lbs, eliteprospects at 174 lbs ... so assuming the Q website is up to date, it seems he has gained some weight.

Culkin seems very smart in his positioning.

I'm not totally sure, but do the refs have Movember moustaches on the back of their shirts?

Culkin blew a tire on that one and it cost him.

Well that bit Culkin in the ass. I'm glad he jumped up in the rush, but that backwards pass from his teammate screwed up the whole play.

That was a pretty awful clearing attempt by Ryan Tesink (#19) for the Q.

That play is more on MacKinnon, terrible drop pass.

MacKinnon isn't having a good game thus far.

Agreed. If Culkin was right handed, that play would've worked haha.

Culkin had a good first period. The turnover wasn't on him, he was doing the right play coming in on offense.

Ouellett with a laser. Over Vasilevski's shoulder.
