What will Coronato be next year?
Even though this kid has shown glimpses and seems to be improving steadily over time and does a lot of the right things, I am guessing many of us feel a bit disappointed for year 1:
25 games, 6 points so far.
Where do you think he will be next year?
Still struggling a bit, 5-10 goals, 5-10 assists over 82?
Starting to come on a bit 15/15 ?
Really finding his gear?
I'm really hoping next year is a huge one for him.

He will change his name to 'Mathieu' as then if Hubderdeau thinks he's French he'll receive more passes!
At which point he'll promptly give up his life of hockey and start a winery in Red Deer.
They say its the 'hopelessness' that gives the grapes their flavour.
We shall see.

The post game interview with Ras last game was interesting as he brought up Coronato unprompted a couple of times at least, saying how impressed he was with him since coming back up.

I think he takes a step.
We're seeing it in the most recent recall, he's creating more.
Just needs a few to go in to give him that confidence boost that Zary got early.

A year older. That’s the only prognostication I’m willing to make.

I think Coronato's production will depend on whether he earns consistent top-9 minutes on a line that stays together for 40+ games next season. I think he's shown in the last few games that he's getting comfortable in the NHL but unlike Zary/Pospisil he hasn't been attached at the hip to a savvy veteran like Kadri.
IMO he could hit 20 goals next season if he sticks in the lineup for the full season and gets PP1/PP2 time consistently. For now I would like to see him get more reps with Zary and Sharangovich this season to see if there's something there.
I think Kadri/Kuzmenko/Pospisil is effective the way it's constructed. Which leaves Huberdeau as the odd man out again but it is what it is, they need to find a Center in UFA to play with Huby, I personally don't like him on a line with Backlund and Coleman at all stylistically and I think Pelletier is a better fit on their wing than Coronato.

I think he'll flirt with 20 goals next season if he sticks in the top 9 somewhere; ideally with Backlund / Coleman to babysit him.

He's progressed pretty nicely for someone who only spent two years in college hockey with 34 game seasons. Over a PPG in the AHL. Still 11th AHL rookie scoring leader despite playing 40 games.
Too bad with 25 NHL GP he won't be Calder eligible next year. He didn't get to have a real "rookie season."
We really need a bigger sample size to say anything. Maybe better to revisit this convo after game 82.

Need more from him.
I heard a lot of Caufield comparisons since he was drafted - I’ve yet to see it.

Man, we need to hit on both first rounders this year along with Pelletier and Coronato both taking big steps next year.

Middle six winger with a good shot. He's a depth 1st round pick - it's more likely that he's a support type player than a top-tier player, and expectations ought to fall in line with that.
I could definitely see him getting time on a Coleman-Backlund-Coronato line. He'd get a chance to develop a strong two way game. If he can develop strong defensive play and mix it with his shot? That'd be a pretty effective player.

If he takes a step up next year, I think it would really help our Powerplay. He has a great shot, just needs to work on other aspects of his game.

I predict that at this time next year, Coronato will be a hockey player.
Or a short-order cook, whichever.

He dipped his toes in this year, I think he will be a good contributor next year. It will help if they can move Mangiapane.

Coronato would benefit from dedicating time to the gym. It's easy to forget the youth of these players. Hopefully he shows improvement in strength by next year.
