If it weren't for a couple boneheaded plays by Andersson trying to carry it out of his own zone, it would have been a perfect road game.

Really solid effort - every time I thought they were starting to look tired, someone went out and had a good forechecking shift to keep them going.

Yeah, a couple egregious turnovers by Weegar as well, last night.

Hockey is such a fickle sport.

If your goalie doesn't stand on his head in the 2nd and late third that's likely a loss and fans are upset.

In baseball terms...

6) LAK +8
7) EDM +7
8) NSH +6

9) SEA +5, 1/2 game back
10) STL +3, 1 1/2 games back
11) ARI +3, 1 1/2 games back
12) CGY +2, 2 games back

Being 2 games back isn't insurmountable by any means, but having to pass 4 teams is REALLY tough. Also, this is AFTER the Flames have been on a bit of a roll. As soon as they lose a couple back to back, they're pretty much done.

For those who are worried that the Flames will change direction, there is no chance they get back in the race, unless they go like 5-1 on this home stand.

Yeah recent winning has put them in a position that a huge run could save the season.

The recent success doesn't save the season on it's own.

The last wild card spot is now on a 93.5 point pace so the Flames still need to be 10 games over .500 the rest of the way which is .628 and a 103 point pace.
