Awesome news - with Gillies and Ortio our goalie depth is looking good.

So will he just chill with the team until the end?

Have to think we'd be using Ortio in the case we needed to go to #3.

EDIT: What is the status of these guys? Did Addy miss? Do they just stay with the team and we have to call them up on paper? Or Can we just keep them and slot in whoever we want?

I wonder which provides the most benefit to Gillies, being with the Flames during this playoff series or finishing out the season in Adirondack giving him an idea of what pro hockey is like before next season.

With Ramo healthy would that not mean that Ortio has to be re-assigned as it would no longer be an emergency recall.

Would mean you sign Gillies to be the new number 3 on the roster.

Interesting. We already have 3 goalies up, Ortio was practicing before the regular group.

If the report is correct and he is on the NHL roster that means Ortio or one of Ferland, Granlund or Wotherspoon needs to be sent down.

If Ramo is good to go then I suspect one of either Ortio or Granlund is sent down.

Although you would have to think Ortio would be the third guy in the pipes over Gillies.

Adirondack was mathematically eliminated last night. Their season will end on Sunday.

By rights, "paper" is the only thing they need to do to follow the rules. They could technically send down Ortio but never have him leave Vancouver and the Adirondack Flames scratch him due to injury/illness/whatever and it would be completely legal.

Knew it was coming but still great to see it finalized. An Ortio/Gillies duo in the future could be fantastic.

I could see sending Ortio down for the weekend to get a game or two (that is assuming Ramo is ready to back-up).
