Default Replacing Shut-Off Valves In Condo

Hey all,

Some may remember a few months back me having issues with my bath tub faucet and not being able to 100% resolve the issue because I live in a condo and the water was not shut off to the entire building.

I've been told on the 28th (this upcoming Monday) that the water will be shut off from 8:30AM-5:00PM and I need to have my shut off valves replaced as they simply do not do the job (they shut off water partially to the unit but water still comes through).

Does anyone know of where I can get someone to do this, what a reasonable estimate for this type of job would be or if anyone on CP does this type of work?

Any help would be appreciated, and I've attached pictures to give an idea of how/where these shut off valves are situated (in my coat room, overhead in the ceiling accessed through this smaller panel), the valves themselves are inline shut off valves I believe.

Thanks!

any plumber should be able to do this.

You may want to try your property management company if they have a referral, or if other units are getting this done and there is a plumber who will cut everyone a deal because of the volume.

i would look at adding a second valve instead of replacing existing. I will send you PM with plumber who does side work.

if you bring your own plumber in, be sure to get a copy of his certification with AIT (Red Seal certificate) as the condo board should be asking for this.

Any plumber should be able to do that in 10 minutes, I know from experience

Sweat off the valve clean and flux both ends and solder in a new valve

Or cut the old valve out and sharkbite a new ball valve in.

Thanks for the tips guys. Wow I'm in the wrong profession, the rough quotes I'm getting for this work so far are between $500-$800, ouch.

Just hope they don't open the drywall more to gain more access. That can be another chunk of change.

Also any plumber you bring in will need liability insurance and WCB.
