Default Soundaround's Gone Belly Up

This might be old news to some but I just recently found out that they had gone belly up. They used to be the place for some semi high end stuff but now all that's left is Vision, FS and BB.

Not suprising. Online retailers are killing the electronics stores. Makes pefect sense though. We dont really need to buy things like electronics in person. Things like clothes, shoes, etc, your are going to want to try on. You're much better off relying on online reviews than a salesperson for advice on electronics though.

Yeah, they were done about a month ago.

I do think that the lack of an online presence is what did them in. All their website ever had was an image of their newspaper flyer.

The owners of soundsaroung has been planning to scale down completely for the last few years. Retirement is more fun than pumping money into stores every month waiting on Tv manufacturer rebates that may or may not come.

It appears that my voodoo magic has finally kicked in. Everytime I would hear their winter radio commercials, I would ritualistically chant "Death to Soundsaround. Death to Soundsaround."

thier higher than average pricing scheme on stuff you could get elsewhere likely did not help them.

Ahh.. the memories. I had them do an install once - I guess they removed the rear tire in the back of my trunk to do some work. I didn't notice as the cover looked in place. Realizing it was gone a few months later was not the ideal time to know it was was missing

I once had my vehicle in for some idiotic teenager reason...when I got it back the passenger mirror was off and sitting in the box of the truck. They denied having anything to do with it. Eventually I got them to pay for half...terrible customer service. Probably spend thousands on useless crap at that place.

most online reviews are bollocks to be frank, if you want to know how good a stereo is there is no alternative to sitting down and listening to it for a while with several different types of music, the absence of hi fi stores you can go in and listen means you will happily buy a piece of crap and will have no idea what a rubbish sounding turd it is as you will have nothing to compare it to but your clock radio.

I couldn't stand that store and the losers who worked there. It's the only store I've ever walked into and felt intimidated because the clowns working there for 14 dollars an hour make you feel like you don't belong. I can remember a jerk off working there mocking me because I didn't want to spend 600 dollars on 2 outdoor speakers for my cabin - I was hoping to spend around 150. That arguement didn't end well for him and I was banished from their store in Crowfoot haha.

When did A&B Sound go away? I noticed that they aren't around either.

I have fun memories as a kid going to A&B Sound. I remember going to their downtown location, and browsing for hours in their movies and CD sections. I was sad to see it go under.

Soundsaround, on the other hand, I have no love for. The salespeople were so sleazy and condescending. I remember buying a receiver from them, and I hated the experience.
