CP 2024 Ordered Draft List (April 9th Edition) #2
Enoch with a solid idea.
I'll post 20 prospects ranked by my ratings average.
Each pick you choose who you would take if you were the Flames GM. Not a mock draft of the standings. Who the Flames would pick at #2 (skipping #1) through say #12 or greater if we see the value.
When done we will have CP consensus list for the Flames.
I'll run a few a day with a cut off around total votes so this doesn't take two weeks to complete.
We can run it weekly to see how things change.

Demidov for me at the #2 spot. It's close for me for the top 5-6 spots but to be able to draft someone with Demidov's level of talent would be amazing. I tend to feel drafting for the most upside with a high pick is better than drafting positionally, or for someone with a higher floor, for example.
Demidov all the way at #2

Kucherov is a better player than Brayden Point, but the Flames need Brayden Point. That's why I went with Lindstrom over Demidov. Silly to not take the BPA, but whatever. Flames need to draft a top center

Taking a while to get to 5000

Chose Lindstrom. Flames want their retool to be done when the building opens. Having a star 1C in Lindstrom in place for that goes a long way. Demidov would be what? 4 years away? Risk to stay home? And a winger to boot. Not opposed to him at all (and the Flames are certainly building a landing spot or it seems they are) but I went with the big potential C.

This is a fun idea Bingo!
Truth is I haven't looked much at players inside the top 5.
But it is difficult to pass up on elite offensive defensemen. I went with Levshunov who is already making the transition to the N.A game.

Went with Demidov because the Flames need star talent and might be able to get the centers they need in subsequent drafts or with subsequent picks. Also, Demidov has played center in the past, so there's a possibility that he could be moved back to the middle. Personally, I think if he was in the CHL he'd be playing C. He's only playing wing in Russia because Russia is weird about how they deploy forwards (the true offensive talents almost all play wing, the center is usually a transition/defensive player, wingers almost always play their off wing, etc)

Honestly if we are talking about prospects being ready for the building opening, it might make more sense to draft the #1 dman now, as they take longer to develop than the #1 centre, and then take the centre in 2025.
All of these positional conditions are exactly why I take the highest upside BPA (IMO) in Demidov at #2 though. By 2027/2028 the Flames are going to need everything (except maybe a goalie) and i'd rather just take the player most likely to be a top line player. Lindstrom seems more likely a top 6 centre than a 1C, let alone a star #1C to me, and the injuries worry me as well.

Demidov is having a crazy year. He'll go 2.

I was late on this one but if we one a top 3 pick it would be hard NOT to go Demidov here. Hoping he’s there wherever we pick and our Russian emphasis continues.

Unless Demidov starts dictating where he wants to play or declares that he will never leave Russia, I would expect him to be taken 2nd. This kid is dynamic and a difference maker from everything I have seen, and I would love him on the Flames.

Demidov is the only winger I'd take over Lindstrom or Catton or Helenius. It's that simple. He's in a tier of his own behind Celebrini.
