Jooris has 1 goal and 1 assist in 12 games this year.

Treliving continues to look like a genius by not overpaying Colborne or re-signing Jooris.
Jooris was never the same player after the novelty of being in the NHL wore off for him. His speed and tenacious play disappeared once he became established.

I still think he's an awesome story though. Projected bottom liner in the AHL for us that said '#### that', bucked expectations and forced his way into NHL out of nowhere. This guy was on nobody's radar and decided to leapfrog everybody else in line.
I'll always have respect for him just for that.

Jooris had an injury in preseason, it looks like he was just never able to get healthy. His analytics are brutal, which is unusual for him. Can't see anyone claiming him as analytics were his whole selling point.

Sort of thing that happens a lot. Guys play part of a season and think they've "made it" and gradually stop scratching and clawing for their spot.
Those guys have to play every game like it's their last chance or they get washed out. It's easy to say it's impossible to maintain that pace... but that is what they have to do.
Hope he gets another shot down the line, but so few even get what he got.

My favourite Jooris memory is Dec. 31, 2014 when he scored the overtime game winner on the Oilers. The atmosphere at the Saddledome was incredible that night. I thought the roof might explode after he scored. Fun way to spend New Years Eve.

So much for analytics.

The Jooris story worked well for the "always earned, never given" mantra that saw a pretty young team overachieve.
He had good production in his first ~20 games in 14-15 after which he looked to me like a fringe player at best and actually squeezed a lot more of a NHL career out of the good will generated by that nice start than I expected.
Seems like a nice kid, hopefully it works out and he finds a role somewhere, but if not, he still has the AHL and he lived the dream for a while.

I recall Huska mentioning that Hathaway is a lot like Jooris, except he has no stop button and plays like that 100% of the time. That's what I've been seeing so far and I think Hathaway will play with high intensity as long as his body lets him.

I think consistency is key for players like him. Sure, you can be hammer down for 10 games, and teams love you even if you don't put up a lot of numbers, but when you disappear for 20 games after that it is very easy to bring up someone from the AHL who can easily fill your spot for a lot cheaper.
Hathaway is the same way. As long as he plays a very high intensity game, everyone loves him. But if he runs into issues doing that consistently, there are other options.
Better than stajan or bouma on our 4th line. Those two must incriminating photos of gg for freddy hamilton to be riding pine when they contribute nothing.

Stajan is putting up more points than the last couple seasons but I don't see the grit or speed needed for a 4th liner there still... Subjective but I think the only reason he is still here is his contract. Bouma is a dumpster fire trading on backlund pumping his stats a couple years ago.
