Boomer doesn't make stuff up! Very surprised to see this news. Listening to Huska and Conroy, they both very clearly like Savard a lot, so I don't think this was a Flames decision. Not sure Savard's reasons to leave the Flames - why not stay and finish off the contract? My only guess is he's getting a promotion.

Probably best for both parties.

Not much of a shock. Things came together at the end of the season but the powerplay was a major problem for most of the year.

I would assume he's joining Berube in Toronto

I think things coming together on the powerplay had more to do with Kuzmenko than it did with Savard.

You can only do so much on the pp when you don't have a lot of talented players.

But our pp was really annoying to watch with how often we couldn't enter the zone or stood still.

The impact of a healthy Kuzmenko.

I've got no problems with.

...I just kinda wish we could fast forward to when Alex Tanguay is our new Head Coach in 1-3 years.

Which points more clearly towards the skillset on the roster, rather than an actual problem with Savard.

I wish Savard all the best.

With all of the rumours of him going to Toronto and then this happening, seems obvious why he's leaving. Guess we'll find out if the rumours were true.

Would Bruce Boudreau consider an associate role?

Worst kept secret of the week. I remember ppl proclaiming flat out he wasn't leaving because he had term left on contract.

Seems weird he stuck only 1 year but this is an organization in transition so some turn over is expected.

I don't know for sure, but Tanguay signed with Detroit on June 30, 2021. It seems to me that most coaches when they sign on with a new team, sign 3 year contracts. I haven't heard of him getting an extension yet. If my assumptions are correct, according to my calculations, that would make him a free agent this summer.

Yeah, and it'll likely be a lateral move, but I feel like his family and friends are all out in Ontario, so it also makes sense that way.

Yeah, no hard feelings. If it wasn't working for either party or both, just move on. I hope it works out for him.

Tangs coming in wouldn't shock me in the least. The wings PP was 10th in the league.
