should I take a chance on used xbox 360 premium?

the guy says it's missing a seal (whatever that means) but that it plays great, and he is giving a good deal on it Just not sure what the seal does (Assume it keeps dust out of the game cd/whatever bay), and whether the thing would last very long without it. Also not up on the termnology as far as the premium/pro/elite thing goes. Is premium the new one that is supposed to be cooler and not get the RROD? Thanks

Missing a seal probably just means it's been opened, meaning it's not under warranty.

The Elites were the ones I think that started with the cooler hardware and supposedly fewer RRODs. Premiums now have that same benefit as well, but I don't know if there's a reliable way of telling one without opening it.

If the seal is broken, maybe it's been opened, modded, and then banned from XBox live? So possibly it works fine but can never get on live. Something to watch for anyway.

Thanks Photon. If all it is is a banning from live then thats fine by me, I don't game online, learned my lesson from playing pc games online with the cheaters/flamers/little moronic kids that inhabit most games/lobbies Will consider thisdeal a little more closely then.

I would be more concerned with the warranty being void (which is almost certain if the seal has been broken or removed).

The seal is likely a holographic sticker that says "Warranty void if broken" stuck over one of the screw holes required to open the box.

oh yea, good point. If (when) the RROD occurs I wouldn't be able to get it fixed under warranty. Thinking this over, I think I'm going to pass on it. Just don't want to take a chance, would rather put the money into a new, warranty covered one. Could probably have talked him down to $100, but still taking a chance it doesn't work/banned/no warranty, could be a waste of money. Since I don't know the guy very well he could be trying to pawn off his junk to me.
