The seal is likely a holographic sticker that says "Warranty void if broken" stuck over one of the screw holes required to open the box.

oh yea, good point. If (when) the RROD occurs I wouldn't be able to get it fixed under warranty. Thinking this over, I think I'm going to pass on it. Just don't want to take a chance, would rather put the money into a new, warranty covered one. Could probably have talked him down to $100, but still taking a chance it doesn't work/banned/no warranty, could be a waste of money. Since I don't know the guy very well he could be trying to pawn off his junk to me.
