Yes, but that's true of many on the right side. They got taken in by QAnon/far right conspiracy stuff and they ain't coming back. It was very successful.

At this point I think he just needs to donate his brain to science so they can determine whether it was the 'nose candy' or just too many hits to the head.

Plus, there's the abusive childhood and repeated sexual assaults by his junior coach that also contribute to his natural distrust of authority figures.

Yeah. I don't follow anything Theo says or does anymore because enough crazy seeps into my life without that.
But when I do think about him it's exclusively to feel sorry for the guy. Super tough childhood, repeated sexual abuse, drug addiction, repeated job-related hits to the head. I'm pretty confident I'd be screwed up if that had all happened to me.

Oh, but he trusts authority figures. Do you think he’ll turn on a conservative leaning mayor or other politician?

Off topic, but I've always wondered why people who seemingly have mental health issues don't have overly peaceful, happy, optimistic and pragmatic things to say, or are friendlier and more generous than before. It always seems to be that afflicted people resort to anger, conspiracies, lies, and distrust. This isn't so much about Theo as it is neurological science in general.
Any psychiatrists out there have any thoughts on this?

I don't feel sorry for him at all.
I've posted this numerous times, but Sheldon Kennedy decided to use his Trauma for good.
He chose to be the change he wanted to see in the world.
That's impressive.
That increases my empathy for him, his ability to put his pain on display with the singular goal of making other's lives easier.
He is a ####ing National Treasure.

I understand that he's had a horribly rough go of things. I get that.
But does it excuse using his position to preach from a pulpit about insane nonsense?
I'm not so sure.
If he was an activist against sexual assault against minors in sport and advocated punishment for that? I think I could get behind that.
This? This is something else.

Yeah, of course that's the problem with these types. They don't trust "experts" and think of themselves as free-thinkers, yet they continually parrot the same nutbar talking points as all the other "free-thinkers".

I mean, Theo is clearly crazy. But this is Canada. Our actual courts consider Gladue factors. It seems reasonable that the court of public opinion consider stuff like that as well.
Anyway, I still think the best course of action with him is ignoring him.

Considering it isn’t the same as excusing it.
