Last year the two goalies in the finals were both under 27 years of age.
The last starting goalie to win the cup over the age of 30 was Tim Thomas.
The numbers for successful goaltenders over the age of 35 are not fantastic. Smith could buck the trend, but the trend is the trend for a reason.
