I'm guessing this is a cap dump, at the expense of JVR to allow the Leafs to free up space to re-sign Bergeron.
My opinion is to reject the deal and would advise instead to execute a scorched earth strategy to clear the dead wood.

Meaning
- Release any low end prospects from the AHL to clear space (minimal cap penalties)
- Waive Groavac: Saves 1.0
- Waive Helm. I assume he gets claimed saving 2.63. If not buy him out
- Waive Kero. Savings 1.75
- Waive and buyout Fiddler Savings 1.89
- Waive and buyout Michalek. Savings 1.89
- Waive and buyout Greening. Savings 1.89
- Trade Roussel for a pick or waive him. Savings 4.0
- Send down Hinostroz. Savings 0.5
- Waive andd send down Bortozzo. Savings 20
- Send down Walman. Savings 0.5

That should clear 18M in cap space. Lots of roster spots to fill but I think you are better to keep your best assets, including JVR.

If you need more then trade Dillion and/or Dekeyser for picks.

Burn it to the ground!
