I haven't played WOW, but as PsYcNeT mentioned, it's a very dependent on the single thread performance of the CPU so you may not be able to do anything about the slowdowns in the boss battles without upgrading to a modern Intel 4+ GHz CPU.
As for loading time, from what I've seen the best upgrade would be a SSD. More RAM may be helpful though probably not until you load an area at least once; but with DDR3 memory prices not likely to drop anymore (any probably increase) if you plan to keep your current system now may be a good time to go to at least 12 GB for improvements in general usage.
