Back when I asked the question, the dollar was at about $1.05 US, so you save the $20 price difference, plus the exchange rate (roughly $30, depending on the model), plus the GST or any sales tax since I'd be purchasing in Montana (another $30)
For example a 32GB wifi - $599 USD at a $1.05 exchange rate, that would have been $570 CAD.
In Canada, the same model would be $619 CAD + GST = $650 plus whatever electronics recycling fees they charge. I'd save $80.
(This is all assuming we'd be under the $400 per person duty exclusion, which we would be)
