If you're talking about getting the back plate done, it'd be equally as interesting to me however I wouldn't trust a kid at the mall to do it in either instance, especially if there is a logo involved.
I'd call a good jeweller and see who they could recommend.

Although I've never heard of getting the dial engraved, It's not a huge deal. Once the stem is removed, the movement and dial come out very easily. Take off the hands with something
like this and then possibly a side screw or two at the most to remove the dial. Most don't even require that second part though. It's actually quite easy and doesn't do anything negative to the movement at all.
As for the back...unless it's a Rolex, it's fairly easy to remove. I would probably trust most engraving places, like Things Engraved, to be able to engrave on the back of a watch.
