What's the make and model of the receiver? It's a long shot, but maybe looking in the manual will tell you. It is typically labelled though.
Just to be perfectly clear, CEC/ARC is only going to automate turning the receiver on and off. Well, afaik anyway. While super cool, it may not be worth the money for a new receiver.
