I don't like the idea of getting a penalty for an incorrect challenge - the loss of your only time-out is enough, IMO, as that means only 1 wrong challenge per game.

If I were to tweak the rule, the one change would be to add an "Incidental Offside" caveat, where the player going offside had nothing to do with the ultimate goal, like when they cross the blue line, cycle the puck for 20 seconds, then score.

Beyond that, the rule is OK. It should be a reviewable call, the standard should be to get it right (so a millimeter offside is offside), and, after going back and forth on this, I don't think you can extend the blue line vertically like a plane, as you don't want to encourage players to wave their skates around in the air.

Once in a while it will take some time to determine a call (and this will be reduced as more 4K cameras get rolled out), and in those cases, so be it, IMO.
