At the time 1.67 was the thinnest profile lens available. Is this still the case?

1.74 lenses are available now. Also, there are now digital lenses that take into account the frame you choose and various other measurements of your eyes. This can thin out the lenses as well.
If you have a large amount of Myopia it is best to go with a smaller frame (thickness increases Center out) that has a thicker rim (to hide the edge better).
