Under 19 and over 65 should be yearly (covered by AHC). Contact lens wearers should be yearly. Diabetics and those with pre-existing conditions can be anywhere from every 3 months to yearly (although there is usually AHC coverage for those). Every two years for everyone else.

Prescriptions expire after two years for anyone, but it is always a good idea to get a double check on it after one year if you going to shell out the money for glasses.
