I feel it's better take on the 3rd year even if it's expensive. If Sam's camp pushes for most of it to be a guaranteed signing bonus with high $, then it's probably still worth it - at most you're taking on 1 "maybe" year with the worst case scenario being that he's an overpaid bust for one year (but with same AAV anyways).
It pushes the AAV up by a solid million per year, but it's better IMO to have guaranteed money off the books allocated to him, rather than hoping to get rid of a Stone or Brouwer through trade/buyout to get that space.
