If you only have the one non-Disney activity I would stay within walking distance. Everyone's different but we like being able to walk back when it's hot or we're tired, let the kids hit the pool, head back again, always on our own timetable. Parking is a pain and the cost of hotel parking plus Disney parking plus rental adds up fast.
