In the last two seasons the Flames have had the following prospects make it to the NHL:

1. Gaudreau (straight from NCAA)
2. Bennett (straight from CHL)
3. Granlund (from AHL)
4. Jooris (from AHL)
5. Ferland (from AHL)
6. Ortio (from AHL)

- Granlund has since been traded for another prospect
- Jooris back stepped this season and looks to be done in Calgary
- Ortio barely made the jump and is pretty much done in Calgary and maybe the NHL

Definitely not a great track record of developing guys through the AHL, but hopefully that starts to change beginning this season. Hathaway, Hamilton and Wotherspoon are close. Shinkaruk as well, although he hasn't spent much time developing in the Flames org.

I don't think the lack of developing NHL players can be pinned entirely on the Flames development system though, probably has more to do with the quality of the prospects because when they do have a quality prospect he seems to make it through our AHL system just fine as evidenced by Backlund, Brodie and Bouma in recent years.

Other prospects who went through our development system and now appear to be NHLers but with other organizations include Baertschi and Byron.
