I frequent fish tales very often. As I type this I am in the airport about to go to Cuba for a week fly fishing. I will post pictures and maybe some video when I get home.
One thing if you don't want to by the gear and just want to see if it would be something you want to do is to go out on a float trip for a day or a walk and wade day with a guide. This will let you use their gear and their knowledge of the fishery to give you the best chance of a successful day.
Now a day is still going to run you about 500 bucks lunches included but they will also give you casting leasons and tips on how you are doing.
Think of it as a crash corse to help ramp the learning curve.
