I would agree, but there are precious little facts that support that the call was even racially motivated unless I missed something in the article.

For all we know he heard glass breaking and called the cops, came around the corner and saw a shadow and opened fire.

For all we know this might be a colorless incident.

Its just bugs me slightly when people jump on the assumption wagon before the facts come out.
