in my opinion it's the former, which is why I don't think Tiger quite makes it, unless he has some sort of miraculous rebirth. it's also why I hate things like PPG/GPG averages being used, because that favors players that retired early.

I'm not a golf expert by any means, it just always seemed to me that Tiger played in a time when there was a lot of competition, and he dominated. There was a lot of good golfers that likely will be made irrelevant in the history books in that time period because he was crushing everything.
