What brand/ model is your receiver? Judging by those speaker terminals it looks lower end, so it may not have ARC. Looks like an Onkyo though? Mine from 2010 has ARC, so it isn't just on new models. The cable to the TV should go in the "out" port though, which is the one that would have ARC.
