I dunno if I'd describe Jimmy as "spiraling". He starts off scamming people for beer money. By Breaking Bad he's got a pretty great setup, by Jimmy standards that is. He needs to be hustling to be happy, and his solo practice gives him that. It's not until Walter takes him down in BB that things go poorly for him. The look on his face when he's working that manager job, just shows how much he loved his Saul Goodman life. As Saul he's the king scammer.
