Last year (AAA Bantam) the team did 2 raffles on a side of beef each set of parents had to sell 20 tickets at $20 for each raffle, with 17 kids that is a lot of money, there were some other prizes in there as well, hockey tickets, booze basket. The team made close to $10k. The live beef was donated however so obviously that really helped, but still could make some money on a beef raffle. At the end of the year the money the parents had contributed to the slush fund was all returned.
This year (AAA 15 yr) they're selling $250 business card advertisements for their game day "program" which is a roster sheet that becomes a booklet of business card advertisements, they would like 3-4 from each kid so $14000 or so. These are also charitable donations as even though they are team specific, the minor hockey association will provide a tax receipt.
