It's true that Hartley, Roy and Maclean all had short shelf lives after winning the JA recently, and yeah that happens from time to time.
But it's not always the kiss of death people claim it to be.
Vigneault won in 06/07, 1st year in VAN and coached 6 more years there. Won Presidents and Cup finals.
Boudreau won it in 07/08, 1st year in WAS and coached 4 more years there. Won Presidents.
Julien won it in 08/09, 2nd year in BOS and coached 8 more years there. Cup win and Cup finals.
Tippett won it in 09/10, 1st year in ARI and has coached 6 years more and counting. Conference Finals.
Hitchcock won it in 11/12, 1st year in STL and coached 4.5 years more there. Conference Finals.
I'm fine with Gulutzan winning it, and certainly think he should get consideration.
