Backlund is about as unmovable as it gets.

I'm sure that everyone will find comparisons from other teams, but Backlund is at the top of the league in many respects and is extremely underrated in doing so.

He also bleeds Flames. This guy is likely one of the most dedicated to this team as anyone we've seen come through the locker room in the last decade. Having this level of talent and effort want to be a part of what you're doing is something you never turn away from. I have a hard time accepting losing Backlund to most of the trade proposals here. I don't see where we're replacing Backlund, and we're taking a pretty huge step back losing an incredible defensive center who was a key part to one of the most dangerous lines in the NHL.

I love Mikael Backlund, and as much as I'd love to see him sign for less than $6mil, I can't argue against him earning it.
