I use a music player called Clementine, but I'm not sure it how well it integrates with the Ubuntu Unity desktop. On KDE (what you'd get with Kubuntu) it integrates really well though. I'm not sure what other music players integrate well with Ubuntu these days, but you might find something on the omgubuntu blog,
