+1 for Harmony remotes.
I believe I gotten one on sale for $70 or something like that. You hook it up to your computer with a USB cable and program it for all your devices.
You set activities on the remote, so one button switches to the appropriate settings on the receiver/tv and what not.
Once it's set up, simple to use that even my parents can turn on the TV or DVD player with one button.
