Bump.
I just finished my introductory fly fishing course through a local shop, and can definitely see myself getting into the sport. Any advice on gearing up?
The two trains of though to get started are to either A) pick up a budget outfit (sub-$200) and upgrade at some point if/when I outgrow the equipment, or B) set a budget (say 350-500) and work with the shop to find a good match for gear that I can grow into over the next few year.
I'm in NW Calgary, and would like easy access to practice casting during the evenings - any recommendations besides my backyard? The Bow seems intimidating for a beginner, but it's a pretty short drive to Bowness/Montgomery to get into live water.
