Reminds me of the chapter/scene in Friday Night Lights (the book/movie, not the TV series). Three schools finish tied at the end of the season; only two advance to the playoffs.
According to the rules at the time, the two advancing teams were decided by a coin-flip, which was secretly held in some random truck stop in Texas.
