England tried to prolong the innings by frustrating Indian bowling attack but that backfired considering the pitch deteriorated considerably and it became bowler friendly. The spin bowlers India has are world class (Ashwin especially) so that was a brutal tactic as hardly anyone can survive them on Indian pitches for long.
